The first round-the-world solar flight in history


Solar Impulse 2 has completed the first round-the-world flight by a solar-powered aeroplane, after touching down in Abu Dhabi early on Tuesday, 26.07.216.

European Commission Vice-President Maroš Šefčovič greeted the aviation pioneer Bertrand Piccard in a live conversation.
Ahead of the link-up, Vice-President Šefčovič said: "Solar flight illustrates the potential of energy efficiency. Using energy in an efficient manner is central to ourEnergy Union strategybecause it helps cutting emissions, brings savings to consumers, and reduces the EU's fossil fuel import dependency".
